Symbiosis Gathering | Pyramid Eclipse

The last 12 months have been an amazing experience.  As our time nears and we create the space for this special event we would like to honor the process that has unfolded.  We truly appreciate the opportunity to celebrate the elegance of the universe on the Paiute lands.

We arrived last Thursday to begin our setup and when we did we had the honor of having a pipe ceremony with elders from the Paiute community. We expressed our appreciation for the opportunity to be here, acknowledged the ancestors, and set our intentions for the time we will spend.

We have come from a place of integrity and authenticity and remain open to dialog now, throughout the event, and ever after.  We have been in a constant learning process of the inter-tribal and intra-tribal community relations. We've taken every step that we could think of to interact with, to inform, and to listen. While we have not done everything, we have done everything we could or could think of.

Pyramid Lake is open to the general public on the west side. The east side was approved by NAGPRA because of the unlikelihood of finding artifacts. Since the 1890s irrigation rights have drained over 80 feet of depth from the lake and we were advised that ancient activity probably did not take place where the festival location is. The Pyramid itself will not be open to attendees.

We all share in that we want to have a safe event. This is primary. As always, Symbiosis will not be selling alcohol yet alcohol will be permitted just like it is on the other over 100 miles of lake frontage. Drugs are not permitted just like they are not anywhere else in the United States. In tandem, with public safety, we are making our best efforts to make sure our attendees abide by the rules and wishes of the tribe and we encourage our close community to help us.

All we can do is be authentic and we must constantly check ourselves so we can hold fast to our intent. We are not perfect, nor are we trying to be. What we are attempting to be is authentic and I, our team, and our community appreciates this opportunity to stop for a moment to realign ourselves with our own purpose and work towards a world we would like to create.

This is not just another party. This is an opportunity to witness the grace of the universe as evidenced in a solar eclipse and we hope to have some fun while doing it.

Our intention is to create not only a fun time, but transformative one as well.

We are moving close to one week before the event, stages are being built, shade structures stretched, and our intentions are moving into action.  We are excited for you to join us on this beautiful land.
